Books and Mentoring

(Keep scrolling for information about mentoring for writers.  I’m introducing my books first, so you know I’ve been there and done that.

You wouldn’t want to be mentored by someone who hadn’t written any books of their own, would you?).

So, here are some books I’ve written.

One is free to download.  The rest aren’t, but the financial investment is minimal.

When people ask me what I do, and I tell them I’m a writer, some of them ask how they can get started with writing as well.

This is how.

I'd Rather Get a Cat and Save the Planet: Conversations with Child-free Women

I wrote this book because I’ve always wanted to read one just like it.

Simply, it celebrates the choice not to have children, in a chatty style that’s intended to be warm, friendly, and completely non-judgemental.

My interviewees and I tackle a litany of subjects together, from work and family life, to parties and friendship. Whether you have children or not, it would be lovely if you could join us.

I’m immensely proud of this book.

It’s made up of the many, many, many personal blog posts I wrote and published just for fun, back when I was a married HR manager (as opposed to the divorced writer I am today).

I mentor writers, too.

I do this because I know EXACTLY what it’s like to write (and fret constantly over) something you care deeply about.

I also know what it’s like to get a book ready for publication, then see it sell - attracting glowing personal messages and one-star Amazon reviews alike!

You won’t be asked to commit to a set mentoring package and/or specific blocks of sessions, because every person and every project is different.

You won’t even be asked to sign a contract.

For me, writing mentoring is simply about honest, deep, guided conversations that clear the way forwards.  My approach is gentle yet determined, helping writers find their natural voice and the confidence to keep on using it.

So, if you think you’d like me to mentor you during a specific writing project, we’ll have a quick (free) chat first to see if we like one-another.

If we do, you’re free to book hour-long mentoring sessions whenever you need them. That could be once a week, one a month, once every six months, or once in a blue moon. Whatever works best for you.

What else? I sometimes ghostwrite books, articles, and important personal speeches (such as for weddings and funerals).

I genuinely love this kind of work, mostly because it allows me to get to know and write as some seriously amazing people. Luckily, I’m quite good at the writing bit. Find out more.
