Show review: Legally Blonde

Confession: I’m getting supremely tired of the ‘musical adapted from a hugely popular film’ trend circulating around theatres worldwide.  If I already know the plot, what’s the point?  But you can’t analyse Legally Blonde too closely.  You just have to sit back and enjoy it for what it is.

I had the same issue with the Sister Act musical, as you’ll see from my review.  My friend Matt, who accompanied me to that one, rolled his eyes.  “Sometimes, people just want a cosy and familiar night out,” he said.  “Something they already know is going to be good.  The theatre is getting too expensive to take a punt on an unknown play.”

He’s right, but it’s still bloody depressing.
