Show review: Bat Out of Hell

Bat Out of Hell is easily the worst stage show I’ve ever seen.  It was awful.  Glee never ‘did’ Meat Loaf (I don’t think), and this musical shows why they didn’t.  Musical theatre is strangely devoid of heart and rawness, which are qualities Meat Loaf had in bucketloads, so it doesn’t work.  Plus the characters were creepy and the story non-existent.

My plans to leave half-way through were thwarted when the manager of the theatre came and sat next to me, gushing about how brilliant this show is.  She’s seeing it again on Saturday and the theatre was packed, so I’m clearly in the minority with my opinion.

Doesn’t stop me sharing it, though.
