Show review: Tina: The Tina Turner Musical

My last show review was for Bat Out of Hell, earlier this month.  That was one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen.  But The Tina Turner musical is (simply) the best.

I wasn’t expecting much.  When I was a little girl, I had a rag doll… no, not that.  When I was a little girl, I thought Tina Turner was a funny old lady who danced like she needed a wee.  I’ve never been much of a fan of her music, either.  But her story – wow.  It is INCREDIBLE.  The show is an emotional juggernaut.  By the interval I’d welled up so much that I had trouble speaking, which wasn’t handy when hospitality drinks and chat were being served up in the bar.

The theatre manager spotted my damp, teary eyes and smiled.  “It’s a special show, isn’t it,” he said.
